Product description

Flex-a-fuse is a fusible stabiliser that gives your bag more shape and structure without making the material stiff or cardboard-like. The result is a bag that holds its shape beautifully while still maintaining the relaxed, slightly slouchy look that many bag makers love.

This stabiliser works particularly well with faux leather and vegan leather. Once fused, the material feels stronger and more supportive while retaining much of its natural flexibility.

What sets Flex-a-fuse apart from many other stabilisers is its strong adhesive layer. The adhesive bonds exceptionally well and stays firmly in place, even when turning a bag right side out. This makes Flex-a-fuse ideal for bags, handles, D-ring connectors and other areas that need extra reinforcement without adding excessive bulk.

At an impressive 150 cm (59") wide, you also get significantly more stabiliser per half metre than with most standard stabilisers, which are typically around 70 cm wide.

Important:

  • Keep Flex-a-fuse out of your seam allowances to avoid unnecessary bulk.
  • The shiny side contains the adhesive and should be placed against the wrong side of your fabric or faux leather.
  • Use heat with a small amount of steam.
  • Once fused, the bond is very strong, so position carefully before applying heat.
  • Always test on a scrap piece first to ensure your material reacts well to the heat and stabiliser.
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Flex-a-fuse feels surprisingly flexible while sewing, but once fused it provides the ideal balance of structure, strength and flexibility that modern bags require.
