How It All Started

In 2014, Anne, the founder of Serial Bagmakers, faced a challenge. She couldn’t find the clothing she wanted in stores, and professional tailors were becoming increasingly expensive. So she decided: “I’ll make it myself!” But what started as an adventure in making clothes quickly turned into a passion for bag making.

After a hip surgery and a personal loss, Anne found inspiration in YouTube videos. With endless practice and growing enthusiasm, she became a master of the craft.

With her house paid off and no children, she had the freedom to dedicate herself fully to her new passion. She bought a better sewing machine and spent countless hours developing new patterns and making bags. In 2015, she became a tester for various bag designers, gaining valuable experience in pattern development.

From Dream to Reality

In 2016, Anne released her first official pattern: the Rozy wallet. This was followed by iconic designs such as the Trudy, Jody, Roxy, and Ally bags, each containing a ‘Y’ in the name as a tribute to her mother Yvonne. Her dedication and love for craftsmanship led to a growing collection of unique bags and accessories.

2018 was a turning point. Anne took the leap and turned her passion into a full-time business. She introduced printed patterns, developed a high-quality hardware collection, and started helping others bring their own bag creations to life.

In 2019, Serial Bagmakers expanded with zippers and hardware—first from home, and a year later, in a physical store. With the addition of fabrics, reinforcements, and other supplies, it became the go-to place for bag makers.

The Birth of Zipper Zoo

Where passion and craftsmanship come together, the most beautiful stories emerge.

Zipper Zoo—formerly known as K-Bas—was founded in 2016 by Mieke, driven by her love for handmade creations and frustration with the limited availability of bag-making supplies. With great enthusiasm, she built her online shop into the leading destination for bag straps, reinforcements, zippers, metal hardware, and patterns. The shop’s popularity grew, and soon, bag makers in the Netherlands and Belgium found their way to her collection.

In 2024, Mieke decided to follow a new path but wanted to ensure that Zipper Zoo remained in good hands. Serial Bagmakers took over the online shop to continue offering premium bag-making supplies. The warehouse moved from Wuustwezel to Mortsel, and Zipper Zoo found a new home under Anne’s leadership.

What started as a personal search for the perfect product has grown into a globally recognized brand. Today, Zipper Zoo supplies high-quality hardware, zippers, and bag straps to bag makers worldwide.
