The Making backpack is a pattern for a Scandinavian-style backpack, tough and handy, ready for any adventure. Absolutely manproof ;).

The spacious backpack closes with a zipper to keep your belongings safe and has a pocket at the front. There is also a zip pocket inside.

Dimensions of the finished bag:

• 29 cm wide, 38 cm high and 12 cm deep (regular).
• 20 cm wide, 27 cm high and 11.5 cm deep (mini)

Recommended fabrics

• Waxed cotton, canvas, jeans or home deco fabrics for the outer fabric
• Cotton for the lining fabric

Supplies (for regular size):

• Outer fabric: 100 cm with fabric width of 110cm
• Lining fabric: 100cm
• Reinforcement:
  • Pellon SF101 ~= G700: 1.30 m
  • Pellon 809 ~= H250 (not needed for cork/artificial leather or waxed cotton): 1.00 m
  • Foam stabilizer ~= Style-vil: 40 cm
  • 2 rectangular rings of 38 mm
  • 2 Strap Slider of 38 mm
  • Zipper of (min.) 55 cm for top
  • Zipper of (min.) 20 cm for inside.
  • Webbing of 25 mm: 1.00 m (for handles)
  • 38 mm webbing: 2.30 m (for shoulder straps)
  • Wide bias (15 mm or more): 3.20 m

Optional:

• Leather strap of 24mm for handles (instead of made of fabric)

Attention!

This pattern consists of a paper booklet with an English manual (and therefore also dimensions in inches - converting to metric measures is very simple: 1 inch = 2.5 cm, 1 yard = 92cm) and does require some knowledge of English sewing terms (or readiness for a little preparatory research). The manual itself is richly illustrated with drawings at each step, so don't be scared off.
Only the non-rectangular pattern parts are supplied on paper, the other pattern parts you draw yourself or cut out directly using the supplied cutting labels!
