This pack contains rivets in size 12 x 8.

When in doubt as to whether your sewing machine will be able to handle the layer thickness, this size of rivets is probably the size you need. They easily bridge layer thicknesses up to 5-6mm. Think of: Thick fabrics with 2 layers of bag tape and/or genuine leather.
About rivets:
The size is indicated by 2 digits. The first digit refers to the diameter of the cap, the second digit to the length of the rivet post. So a 12 x 6 rivet for example has a cap diameter of 9mm and a post length of 6mm. You choose the pin length to match the thickness of the materials you are joining.
Use:
- 6mm post for layer thickness 3-4mm
- 8mm post for layer thickness 5-6mm
- 10mm post for layer thickness 7-8mm
- 12mm post for layer thickness 8-10mm
